The public can help local charities this Christmas by purchasing a tree from Dumfries Lions Club and give back to their community.

Proceeds from this year’s annual Christmas tree sale will allow young adult carers in Dumfries to obtain vital skills and knowledge.

Dumfries Lions Club will be donating to Dumfries and Galloway Citizens Advice Service’s new RISE programme, to be delivered in partnership with Dumfries and Galloway Carers Centre, aiming to build Young Adult Carers’ resilience, inspire their future, help them support each other and empower themselves.

John MacColl, Lions Club President, said, “We are grateful to the public who support all our fundraising events and look forward to welcoming our regular and new customers to our annual Christmas tree sale.

“Last weekend’s tree sale exceeded our expectations, as a result of this we expect to sell all the remaining trees this weekend. We thought it would be helpful for our customers to know this as trees are sold on a first come, first served basis and we may run out by Sunday.”

Dumfries and Galloway Citizen Advice Service Youth Engagement Worker, Cara Hyles said, “we are really grateful to the Dumfries Lions Club for their generosity in helping us to fundraise and deliver this vital service, in partnership with D&G Carers Centre.”

“Dumfries Lions Club’s generous donation allows us to deliver a tailored programme to Young Carers and Young Adult Carers. We are looking forward to working in partnership in this joint venture,” explained Sara Jackson, Young Carers Project Manager.

The tree sale continues this weekend on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th December (subject to availability), at Low Road Junction, from 10.00am to 3.00pm.
